Anothere Trip To Lowes

Made another trip to Lowe’s and Home Depot. Picked up more 4 x 4′s and Rubbermaid 32 gallon Brute trash cans from Lowe’s. They have much nicer lumber. Then a trip to Home Depot for pipe and fittings.

Set up your settlement tank so the top is at or slight above your projected pond waterline. If it is lower, it will over-flo. Run 3″ bottom drain plumbing from center of pond area to approximately 1/4 to 1/3 of the way up your settlement tank. Position inlet fittings to create a counter clockwise current (north of equator). Be sure to have upflow all the way, If your pitch is down, the drain pipe will trap air. Prime and glue ALL your fittings. I sealed fittings passing into settlement tank with “3M 5200″, real messy stuff.

Use 2″ shower drain fittings at the base of both settlement tank and bio-filter for clean-outs. position them out the backside of the structure. You can carefully ream out these fittings so that a 2″ pipe will slide completely through. Leave a notch out of the 4 x 4′s for the pipe to pass through.
