The waterfall height is set at approximately 7″ above the projected waterline. Set the bio-filter height so a 3″ pipe will fit at the top and the bottom of the pipe will be approximately 3 1/2″ above the waterfall height (the height of 1  4×4).

This is an up-flow bio-filter. The pump sends water to the bottom, it flows up through the media and dumps into the upper pond. All the drains (settlement tank, upper pond, bio bottom drain and bio clean-out) are tied together later and controlled by individual valves.

The intake from pump and all drains are 2″ using shower drains at the tanks.
